What happens automatically
Once Strava is connected, you usually do not need the upload page for new sessions.
- When a new wing, windsurf, or sail activity lands on Strava, KnotNow is notified and queues it.
- The next time you open Sessions or Profile while signed in, KnotNow imports queued activities in the background.
- It can take a few minutes after Strava receives the activity before it appears in KnotNow — refresh Sessions or check again later if it is not there yet.
- The upload page is for GPX/TCX files — not required for normal Strava sync.
Use Import historical sessions from Strava on Profile only for older activities already on Strava before you connected.
Strava (easiest)
Best if your wing, windsurf, or sail sessions are already on Strava. No GPX export step.
- Sign in to KnotNow.
- Open Sessions — when you have no activities yet, tap Connect with Strava on the dashboard, or connect from your account area.
- Authorize Strava, then tap Import historical sessions from Strava (up to 8 per tap). Each tap checks your 150 newest Strava activities for wind and foil sports.
Strava imports count toward your 3 free loggable sessions. Pro unlocks unlimited logbook and Strava import. See pricing.
GPX or TCX file
For Garmin, Apple Watch, COROS, or any tracker that exports activity files.
- Formats: .gpx or .tcx (up to 10 MB per file)
- Size: Up to 10 MB per file
After sign-in, drop a file on the Sessions dashboard empty state, or use session import.
Exporting from Garmin Connect
- Sign in to Garmin Connect on the web.
- Open the activity you want to export.
- Click the gear icon or More menu.
- Select Export to GPX or Export to TCX.
- Save the file, then upload it in KnotNow after you are signed in.
You can also export from the Garmin Connect app: open the activity → Share → Export.
Exporting from Apple Watch / iPhone
- HealthFit (iOS) — Export workouts as GPX or TCX from the Health app.
- RunGap (iOS) — Syncs workouts and can export to GPX/TCX.
Or connect Strava and use Strava import instead of manual export.
Record on the KnotNow iOS app
Record on the water with GPS, wind, and session metadata in the KnotNow app. When you are back online, the session syncs to your logbook with the same analytics as GPX and Strava.
Garmin watch app
KnotNow also offers a Garmin watch app for recording and race timing on compatible watches.
