Already track with your watch? Keep it.

A generic fitness tracker files your time on the water like a jog down the road. Keep your current setup and record exactly as you do now. KnotNow works its secret sauce on that raw GPS file to pull out what actually matters: true time on foil, turn exit speeds, upwind VMG, wave counts, or stroke mechanics.

On the wrist

Want the full KnotNow experience? Take it on the water.

If you want glanceable numbers while moving fast - with zero screen clutter to squint at through salt spray, use our dedicated watch apps built specifically for wet, high-glare environments.

  • Apple Watch Included automatically with KnotNow for iPhone. Big, high-contrast numbers you can actually read through spray and chop. Start the session on your wrist, drop in, and open the full breakdown on your phone the moment you unrig.
  • Garmin watch app (Connect IQ) Built from scratch to be read at speed. High-contrast typography, one core metric per screen, and 100% button-operated so it works with thick winter gloves. Displays live speed, distance, bearing, and a 3 or 5-minute sailing race countdown timer that buzzes your wrist at 10 seconds, 5 seconds, and the gun.

Connected accounts

Or just link your existing accounts and ride.

Prefer to stick to the native workout app on your watch? No problem. Connect once, record as normal, and let KnotNow do the rest in the background.

  • Garmin Connect Link once via Garmin Connect. Every time you save an activity, the raw file syncs straight to KnotNow. Garmin doesn't have a Wing Foil profile yet: record as Sailing or Windsurfing, map it once in KnotNow, and your sessions land under the right sport every time.
  • Strava Syncs your water activities automatically: Sail, Windsurf, Kitesurf, Surfing, SUP, and Kayak. Runs and bike rides stay out. Pop "Wing" in your Strava title or map the activity once, and your wing foil stats won't get lumped under generic sailing.
  • Suunto, COROS & Polar Connect your account and import with a tap. For Polar, sync to Polar Flow first, then hit import. COROS runs on a daily shared sync allowance, so any late-evening sessions queue for the next day's run.
  • Direct File Drop Have a GPX, FIT, or TCX export from another device? Drop files up to 10 MB straight into the app or via the web at knotnow.co.uk/import. You can also hit record directly in the KnotNow phone app.

Zero extra hardware

No new sensors. Wear what you like.

You don't need a bulky dedicated marine GPS bolted to your boom or board. The watch you wear, your phone, or a file from your existing tracker is all it takes.

iPhone, Android, and the web open the exact same living logbook. Completely free from your first session, with full telemetry unlocked from day one.

Questions

How do I track a session on Garmin or Apple Watch?

No, it works with what you already wear. The Apple Watch app comes bundled with the iOS app, and KnotNow for Garmin is a standalone Connect IQ app built with high-contrast digits and a race timer. You can also connect your Garmin Connect account directly to sync sessions automatically as soon as you save them on your watch. (Note: Only sessions recorded after connecting will sync; historical Garmin files can be uploaded manually).

Which Strava activities sync?

KnotNow automatically imports new water activities: Sail, Windsurf, Kitesurf, Surfing, SUP, and Kayak, plus past water history when you first link. Your runs, bike rides, and gym sessions stay out. Because Strava lacks a native wing foil category, log those as Windsurf or Sail and add "Wing" to the title, or map the sport in KnotNow to ensure it files as Wing Foil.

Do Suunto, COROS, and Polar sync automatically in the background?

Connect your account, then tap to import. Polar requires your watch to sync with Polar Flow first before you hit import in KnotNow. COROS operates on a daily shared allowance without background push, so if a late session doesn't arrive immediately, tap import again the following day. Suunto connects directly so you can import the exact workouts you want.

Can I upload a FIT, GPX or TCX file?

Yes. Drop any standard FIT, GPX, or TCX file up to 10 MB into the app or online. If the file doesn't specify the discipline, select it manually. KnotNow runs the exact same deep analysis as a connected smartwatch: breaking down foil time, turn scores, upwind VMG, wave counts, or stroke mechanics.
