Gear Shed and the season

Did that foil actually point higher?

Remember the breakthrough instead of letting the sessions blur. Filter by sport or by kit, then read foil time, speed or VMG across the months you choose.

Logbook chart of time on foil percent across recent sessions

Gear Shed

Name the kit. Attach it. Ask the logbook.

  • Board, boat or hull Whatever you stood on or sat in.
  • Wing, sail, kite or paddle The thing that powered it.
  • Hydrofoil, keel or appendage Optional: the minimum speed that counts as flying, for that foil only.
  • Tags Race, social, or whatever short label you want on the session.

You type the names. There is no built-in 850 versus 1050. Call them what you call them, attach them to the session, then filter. Distance and time on that kit are the totals in the report.

One metric over time. The chart says whether it is rising, flat, or roughly double.

Reports

The same sessions, cut the way you train.

Last 7, 28 or 90 days. This month, last month, all time, or dates you pick. One sport, or all of them. One piece of kit, or several drawn as separate lines.

FoilingFoil time, longest flight, foiling average, time and distance on foil, crash rate. A beginner report adds the walk of shame.
Upwind and turnsVMG, pointing, legs headed up, turn score, exit percent, gybes kept on the foil.
Waves and paddleWave count, longest wave, flow. Cadence, SWOLF and 500 m pace when that was the sport.
  • Personal bests Max speed, port and starboard, distance, pace, tacks, gybes, waves and the distance-interval speeds.
  • Alpha Alpha 250 and Alpha 500 live on the pace report and on the leaderboards. Longest flight is a logbook chart, session by session.
  • Goals A target to beat, to stay under, or to add up: foil hours, distance, crash rate, excellent tacks. Limited to the sports you choose.
  • Share cards Route, speed, foiling, upwind, turns, paddle, or one you build. Transparent background on speed, route, foiling, paddle and custom, ready to drop over a photo.

Leaderboards can be everyone, your mates, or a group. Boards include 5-second speed, 10-second peak, both Alphas, best VMG, foil percent, and the wave counts.

Questions

How do I compare two foils, wings or boards?

Yes. Save the kit in the Gear Shed, attach it to each session, then filter the report to one piece of kit or draw several as separate lines on the chart. You name the gear. KnotNow does not ship a list of foil sizes.

Which date ranges can I use?

Last 7, 28 or 90 days, this month, last month, all time, or a from and to date you choose. You can also limit the report to one sport.

Does the foiling speed setting live on the wing?

No. The minimum speed that counts as flying is stored on the hydrofoil in the Gear Shed, or as the default on your profile. Wings, sails, kites and paddles are a separate list.

What can I share from a session?

Portrait cards for route, speed, foiling, upwind, turns, paddle, or a card you build. Speed, route, foiling, paddle and custom cards can be saved with a transparent background to lay over a photo. The upwind card keeps its own background.
