Pagham Winging Guide

Winging, Sailing & Windsurfing Forecast

Loading forecast data...

a unique "split-personality" spot located near Bognor Regis.

In front of the Pagham Sailing Club, you'll find a steep shingle beach that faces the open English Channel. It is widely regarded as a high-performance venue; when a solid swell rolls up the channel, the sandbars can produce smooth, peeling waves that are world-class for wing-surfing and "down-the-line" windsurfing. The "Magic of Pagham" happens in an Easterly or North-Easterly wind - while most other South Coast beaches are offshore and gusty, Pagham becomes a superb cross-shore blasting area. It's a friendly, uncrowded spot where the locals are happy to share the water, provided you respect the power of the tides near the harbour mouth.

Vibe & Crowds

Negatives & Hazards

Things to watch

Tidal Currents. Shore Dump. Groynes.

The current near the harbour entrance is ferocious on a rising tide - stay well clear of the mouth. At high tide, the steep shingle creates a heavy shore break that can be difficult to navigate with a foil. There are several groynes near the housing area; keep a sharp lookout as the tide rises. Note that windsurfing and winging are strictly prohibited inside Pagham Harbour itself, as it is a protected wildlife conservation area - stick to the sea-facing side of the spit.
