Highcliffe Winging Guide

Winging, Sailing & Windsurfing Forecast

Loading forecast data...

a rugged and beautiful location situated at the foot of eroding mud cliffs.

It is a very good location for both windsurfing and winging, offering a different sea state to the nearby Avon Beach. The orientation of the beach means that a Westerly wind is perfectly cross-shore, providing "down the line" wave riding conditions. The waves at Highcliffe break quite close to the shore in shifting peaks. For foilers, this means you can find "flatter" sections to launch before heading out to the bigger sets further back. It is an atmospheric spot that feels much more isolated than the busy Bournemouth beaches.

Negatives & Hazards

Things to watch

Imposing Rock Groynes. Dangerous High Tide.

Numerous imposing rock groynes require careful navigation - always give them a wide berth. Launching on a high tide with a large swell is only for the very confident - high tide can be "dumpy" and dangerous near the rocks.
