a rugged and technical spot located to the east of Hastings. It is a "wilderness" coastal session for experienced wingers and windsurfers.
Backed by high sandstone cliffs, it offers clean, unobstructed wind off the Channel. For wing foilers, Fairlight provides significant rolling swell and a sense of total isolation. The community here is very small; it is a "locals only" type of spot due to the difficult access. The advantage is the wave quality and the lack of crowds. The main negatives are the rocky seabed and the challenging walk down to the water, which is not for the faint-hearted with foil gear. Ideal Wind: SW, S (Clean side-onshore) Viable Wind: W, WSW, SW, SSW, S, SSE, SE
SW, S, SE (Technical deep water; SW side-on)
15-25 knots is the sweet spot for most; 4-5m wings in lighter air, switching to 3m wings when it exceeds 28 knots.
Best at High Tide (+/- 2 hrs) for depth over the rocky seabed. Access is restricted at other tidal states.
