East Sands in St Andrews is a popular and historic spot for windsurfing, sailing, and now wing foiling.
The bay is relatively sheltered by the harbour wall, making it a safer alternative to the more exposed West Sands. For wingers, it offers a great "bump and jump" playground with rolling North Sea chop that remains organized. The local community is very active, bolstered by the St Andrews University students and a long-standing local crew. The benefit of East Sands is the facilities and the easy access, making it a very social place to ride. The main negative is that the bay is quite small, and it can get busy with other water users and pedestrians on the promenade.
